TGIF(4) & Follow Friday(12)

TGIF is hosted by GReads.
This week's question is:

Q. Which genres, authors, or particular book do you think people associate with your reading style?

I would say mostly paranormal and fantasy are the books that most people associate with me. Of course my friends and family will always associate me with Harry Potter and Twilight mostly because those books are well known even to people that don't read.
But I must say that I'm an eclectic reader, I read almost anything with a few exceptions. The last year though and since I started the blog I've been reading mostly YA books.

This week's question is:

Q. In books like the Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) series the paranormal creature in question "comes out of the closet" and makes itself known to the world. Which mythical creature do you wish would come out of the closet, for real?

Mmm.... vampires are my favourite paranormal creature but I'm not too sure I would like to know that they are out there somewhere. Unless they are those vampires that don't hunt humans..... I wouldn't like fairies out there too! Too scary for me! I think shape-shifters would be ok. I mean I don't like camping so I think I would be ok. Besides the guys would probably have a killer body ;)

This week's question is:

Q. How/Where do you get your books? Do you buy them or go to the library? Is there a certain website you use like paperbackswap?
I like to buy my books so mostly I buy them either from Book Depository or Amazon (if I want them in the next three days). But sometimes I need to get to the bookstore and get the full experience even though the books are more expensive than those you can get online. I use Chapters since in my town it's the only bookstore. I don't really use the library and if I do it's going to be for books that I'm not sure if I'll like so instead of buying I borrow them. I recently started using the library for audiobooks. I'm waiting for my first one to come in the mail any day now. So excited!

This week's question is:
Q. What do I do when I'm not reading?
I'm a university student aiming for Pharmacy which means..... almost ZERO free time! Sad but that's how it is. So I spent the little time I have in... more books and blogging. Now in the summer I do more stuff like trying to play the piano or anything else that will strike me that summer. I like to try new things!

TGIF is hosted byGReads.
This week's question is:

Q. Book Love: Do you share your books with others? Who was the last person you sent a book to?
Not really, my friends don't read that much. The last person that I lend a book at was a classmate of mine in Junior High which I got her obsessed with The Tales of Otori
I try to give books to people that will handle my books with care as I do. I tend to keep my books in the best condition as possible and if I know that that person won't look after it, then I'm sorry no book for them.

Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee's View.
This week's question is:

Q. What are you doing to prepare for an upcoming zombie apocalypse and/or the return of Mel Gibson to the silver screen? (Both of which could be terrifying)
Difficult question. I have no idea! I don't know about Mel Gibson but in case zombies run freely outside I would probably panic and hope a really cute guy can come to my rescue. That's what happens in zombie books, right? I haven't read a book with zombies and now I think I should. You never know when those crazy scientists will release their zombie experiments

This week's question is:

Q. Share your favourite post from last month and tell us why it's close to your heart.
Well my favourite post about last month would be the review I did on If I Stay by Gayle Forman. Such an incredible book that I have it close to my heart and I'm glad that I picked it up. It's heart breaking. You can find my review here.

TGIF is hosted by GReads.
This week's question is:

Q. In 2011 which  new/old authors have you discovered and loved?

I love this question! Most books I have read this year are from new authors! Well to me lol.
  • Gayle Forman. She captivated me with her writing in If I Stay and I'm looking forward to the sequel Where She Went where I hear is even better.
  • Tina Ferraro. I loved The ABC's of kissing boys! I want to read more of her books!
  • Julie James. I don't usually read adult-contemporary but I loved her books. I have read two of her books and plan to read the other two.
  • Simone Elkeles. I was hesitant about reading Perfect Chemistry and I'm glad that didn't stop me. She knows how to get into a guy's mind. I have only read Perfect Chemistry but I plan to read more of her books.
  • Tess Oliver. She has a way of telling good stories. I have only read Camille and looking forward to more of her books.
  • Ramona Wray. She has only written one book but it's so good. Looking forward to whatever else she writes.
  • Richelle Mead. I feel bad about this one but I just recently read one of her books and that one was Vampire Academy.

This week's question is:

Q. How many books do you read in a week? And in what format do you read them, or listen to them?

I finish one book a week when my school load is heavy. Normally I read two to three books at the same time and it really depends on what else I have on my schedule to see if I can all finish them at the same week. During the winter is really hard for me to finish three books a week. It's usual one-two books a week. Now during the summer is three books at least. I mostly read my books in their physical form or as e-books. I don't really have a pattern. It depends what format I have of the book I want to read. I've only listened once to an audiobook and didn't quit like it.

This week's question is:

Q. What book-to-movie adaptation have you most liked? Which have you disliked?

I must say the Harry Potter movies are a very good adaptation of the books. I really like them and I was excited that the last movie would turn into two parts. This way they can be more true to the book. Recently I saw Beastly and even though the book was ok I liked the movie better. It wasn't true to the book though. They had changed a lot.
The Twilight movies are they ones I dislike the most. They are ok but in my opinion they don't mach the books. The first movie Twilight I believe was the closest they could get to the book after that they have nothing to do with the books.

This week's question is:

Inspired by the inane twitter trend of #100factsaboutme, give us five BOOK RELATED silly facts about you.

1) The books on my bookcase currently are categorized by genre, then author's last name.

2) I love taking down the books from by bookcase and organizing them differently or even the same way. I love to organize others bookcases!

3) When I'm really excited for a book or sequel then before reading or while reading, I steal a few glances in the ahead chapters. Sometimes I get it spoiled but most of the time I love the book so much that I don't care.

4) When I read I hate to be interrupted and if someone tries, then usually ends up talking to the wall because I'm too absorbed to even comprehend what I'm being told.

5) I keep buying more books I can read in a year. So far I have close 100 books that are waiting on my bookcase and I keep saying that I don't have any book to read.

This week's question is:

If you could physically put yourself into a book or series…which one would it be and why?

Wow... there are so many worlds I would love to get into.
My first choice would be the Harry Potter Series. This was my first read ever and loved it. I still remember counting the days until the next release of each book.
I started reading this book when I was 10 and waited for that letter a couple of years until I had to give up. I didn't have a fireplace but now I do! So it would be fantastic to get that letter. Having a wand and casting a spell to clean the house, or the classes I would take in Horwards! So much interesting.

This week's question is:

How did you come up with your blog name?

At first I had a blog named Book Lover. Very general but I had no idea what I wanted to call my blog and I wanted so much to start one. After a few months the name came. I can't remember how I got the idea for the name but I new I had found it. After some issues with my old blog I had to create a new so here it is.

My blog name is Books Like Fairytales and I wanted to give this name because to me each book is a fairytale taking me into a strange yet fascinating new world. I mostly read fantasy so the name was fitting. Although when I started blogging I wasn't so sure of it and that's why the URL is frosybookreviews instead of BooksLikeFairytales. I do want to change it but I have not idea how.

This week's question is:

"Do you read only one book at a time, or do you have several going at once?"

I used to read one book at a time. Now I find myself constantly wanting diversity and even though my schedule doesn't allow it I end up reading at least two books at a time. I never go over three books at the time. I do like the fact that I can read different books at the same time but the thing is that it takes longer for me to finish a book since I'm reading another one at the time.
Also when I read multiple books I tend to mix the genres as much as I can. For example, now I'm reading two books both paranormal but one of them is adult and the other young adult.

This week's question is:

Who are You the Girl, instead of You the Blogger?

I'm a full student at the University, majoring in Microbiology and aiming to Pharmacy... as you can see I barely have free time and when I do I spend it either reading or tying to learn that piano of mine..... I'm still half way that piece I started during the summer lol... something tells me I'll finish it this summer lol. My days are mostly spend studying and finishing assignments and late labs. Since school takes most of my time I try to spend my free time doing things I love like playing the piano, drawing, and of course reading!

I like to read books but non of my friends do so I decided to start a blog talking about my big love and of course meeting some people that had the same addiction as me! I started blogging  in December 2010 so I'm fairly new to the blog-sphere but all of you have made me feel so welcomed! Thank you! :)

This week's question is:

If I gave you $80 and sent you into a bookshop right now, what would be in your basket when you finally staggered to the till?

According to my local bookstore I would get:
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, (I know! I must be like the only one who hasn't read this yet...
Fallen by Lauren Kate, I have a small obsession with this cover and I wonder why I don't have this book already....
Entice by Carrie Jones, I need to know what happens next!!!!
The Trust by Tom Dolby
Prom and Prejudice by Elizabeth Eulberg, it's based on Pride and Prejudice... do I need to say more?
Crusade by Nancy Holder

This week's question is:

If you're a fan of Science Fiction what is your favourite book? If you haven't read Science Fiction before...any inkling to? Anything catch your eye?

When I think of Science Fiction my minds goes to books that have aliens  in it. Of course I think it has more to do if a book, the story, is based on science.
So based I would say I have only read two Science Fiction series.
The Midnighters by Scott Westerfeld
and Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer (My favourite)
I do like this genre but I find it hard to find good books... so any suggestions?

This week's question is:

Which book(s) would you like to see turned into a movie?

I would defenitely want to see (and can't wait for it!) The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare turned into a movie. And yeah that'll happen! So I guess I would like to see a good film out of it.

I would also like to see on screen Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick, just to see that sexy bad boy Patch!

Another one would be the Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer series. I think it would be fantastic!

This week's question is:

What is your favourite romance hero-type? Stereotype wise. Do you like the strong silent type or the brute macho man?

I love this question! I would say I like more the strong silent type. The mysterious brooding type that hides something and has some issues. Sometimes I do fall for the brute macho type too so it really depends. But mostly I like the guys that would do everything to protect their girl.

This week's question is:

Tell us about one of your posts from this week and give us a link so we can read it (review or otherwise)!

I haven't really updated this week due to midterms but my last post was a review on the book Practice Makes Perfect by Julie James.
