What can I say about Iron King?? WOW- I am SO glad I picked up this book!!! LOVED IT!
I think I had this book sitting on my shelf for almost a year now, not really wanting to read it. I'm not really into the fairy-books much but boy, am I glad I read it. 

The story is about Meghan Chase a girl seemingly very normal at first glance, but going through the story Meghan ends up discovering her connection to the fey world. Her little brother Ethan, got kidnapped and taken into the fey world and Meghan is ready to do anything to get him back. When I was reading the parts with Ethan my heart sank at the thought of that cute little kid alone with vicious faeries. I had to glance at the last page(which I don't do anymore... too many spoilers) just to see if Ethan got back safely, or else I would be too preoccupied with his state rather than focusing on the story.

The story was fast paced, things happened... a lot! I believe Meghan got herself almost killed, a bunch of times throughout the book, which gave you nice action scenes and you got to see Ash in a few of them!!
By the way...I'm team ASH..(fanning herself) But you also got to see a lot of the fey, bad ones & good ones, and different kind of creatures that live in the Nevernever(fey world).

Meghan doesn't only have to worry about her brother but herself too, since she got to Nevernever pretty much everyone wants her. She has to stay alive and focus on finding Ethan without getting distracted from Ash...

Oh, Ash... I always liked seemingly cold characters that warm up to the potential love interest but Ash is pure ice...which I love!! He is the son of Mab, Queen of the Unseelie court and freeking produces ice from his hands!!!! I don't know why but when I see a character with a power that has to do with ice I instantly love them! (like Gray from Fairytail) Even though in reality I hate cold and ice lol.
In this book we get a glimpse of his character and a little of his back-story and I can't wait to see more of him in the next book The Iron Daughter. 

Overall I loved it and can't wait for the rest of the books, and mostly to see more of Ash....
Definitely pick it up if you are interested in paranormal books with a forbidden love story... my favourite!!!

REVIEW
I was looking forward to reading this book and I was excited after some of the reviews praising it so much.... but it felt short for me.

Halfway through the book the story felt like it hadn't really started yet, which I didn't like since the book isn't that long.

The romance for me was almost non-existence. It felt forced throughout the whole book. I mean, there were a few scenes between Sophie and Archer, but not enough of them spending time together to make you believe that they like each other. Sophie on the other hand declares she has a crush on him since he is extremely hot. And I don't doubt that, but I do doubt how that crush turned into love after a couple of months of barely any interaction. They do spend a lot of time together but we, as readers don't get to see much of that time together, so I didn't really feel the love there.

Another thing I really wish I could see was the school. I was so excited about this school full of supernatural kids, going to this school that was on an island to learn their magic that I was jumping up and down. It's no secret that I LOVE Harry Potter and thought that this might be a tiny bit similar to it but not really. Just the aspect of having a school full of paranormal creatures had me in high hopes.

I wish I could have seen more of those defence classes, which Sophie spends all her time with Archer. We would get to know the cool stuff they're learning and see the two of them interact more. Or even see Sophie learning new magic tricks and learn more about her abilities.

On a side note, Sophie's only main interaction with a male student is Archer. She does have a little incident with a male shape-shifter and with the healer of the school but other than that we don't get to see her interacting with other guys which just seemed off to me. I never pay attention to stuff like that but it just seemed weird for some reason. She also doesn't have many friends so it could be that, and that I'm reading too much into it.

Overall I enjoyed it. I love anything that has to do with magic in general. I just expected a bit more I think in the love department at least, but I'm keeping my hopes high for the sequel Demonglass.

Book Review: Cold Kiss by Amy Garvey

Cold Kiss was my first book about zombies and I found myself waiting anxiously to read it. Sadly I was dissapointed. When I heard it was about zombies my first thought was that the book will be filled with a lot of zombie action but found that the book was focused on Wren and her feelings for her undead dead boyfriend. See the zombie in this story is her boyfriend that she brought to life because she couldn't handle the loss.

Throughout the book we get glimpses of how their relationship was before Danny died and Wren realizing as the time passes that the Danny she brought back has nothing to do with the Danny she fall in love with. There wasn't really any action in it but it kept me reading in the hopes I would find some in the end. Needless to say I loved Danny's and Wren's relationship, at least the 'alive' Danny.

In this story we are being introduced to the new love interest named Gabriel. I couldn't see a connection between Wren and Gabriel unfortunately and just couldn't believe that those two were falling for each other. Wren acts selfish pretty much throughout the novel and Gabriel just stood there. If I were him I would be long gone.

Another aspect of the story was Wren's family and their magical abilities which was not explained at all in the book. By the end of Cold Kiss we know nothing about their abilities expect from the fact that the women do have magic but not their uses or where it came from and what kind of powers they have. 

Overall I liked the book. I was just expecting something else.

This book is about Angels which I had no idea it would be about. Before I started reading it I hadn't read or heard anything about it and the synopsis doesn't give away much so I had no idea what there was there for me. But I'm glad I read it. I loved it! And the main reason was Skye. Skye was so enjoyable and loved her to pieces. She knows what she wants and even though she gets distracted and confused she manages to get back in track.

The writing was a breeze and well written. Jocelyn Davies captured me with her fast paced writting and couldn't just stop after a couple of chapters. I had to keep reading and I ended up reading until 3 AM which haven't happened for a long time. I'm lucky it's summer. :)

The romane came in pretty quickly but not that quickly. Does that make sense? Probably not lol. At first I couldn't see a connection with either of them but after a while I warmed up towards Asher. What can I say? I like my men dark and mysterious ;). Of course there is a love triangle in this book -I'm team Asher by the way- and I'm a sucker for those! I have read many books with love triangles and never get bored with them. I just love the tension and drama! There wasn't much drama as I would have liked and it became clear to me which one of the guys I was rooting for.

The plot was really interesting on how Angels actually affect people, manipulate them even and finding out that they are not all shiny and pure as they look like. There aren't a lot of romantic moments in this book and I wish there were but it didn't bother me much since there is another book coming after A Beautiful Dark. 

Overall, I loved this book. It's the first book about Angels that I loved and I recommend reading this if you like Angels and love love-triangles.

Paranormalcy was something I didn't expect. It was fun, cute and refreshing. Evie is very girly and we see it all the time. From her pink clothing to her obsession with her favourite soap opera. But those are the few things that make her feel normal until she realizes again that she lives underground and her main job is to capture and take paranormals in to IPCA (International Paranormal Containment Agency).

Evie has a special ability, an ability that makes her see through all glamours and she is vital to IPCA. When someone breaks in IPCA Evie is the only one who can see him and she is afraid she is already crushing on him. 

I liked that Evie was a kick-ass character but also at the same time very girly as a teenager her age would be. I knew I would like her when I learned about her taser which was pink and she had also named it tasey! How cool is that! Instand like. Evie is also sheltered from the outside world making her obsesion with normal things like school and lockers hilarious. Kiersten White managed to create such a fun world that I can not wait for the release of Supernaturally! 

Overall I loved it and I recommend it to anyone looking for a fun but still kick-ass book with a lot of pinky things involved in it! Also to those who love audiobooks do listen to this book. It was my first audiobook and I loved it! The narrator's voice was just perfect for it. 

Book Review: Spellbound by Cara Lynn Shultz

Reading the synopsis I thought this book was something that was already done. Spellbound is about reincarnation and true love. I have read another two books with the same theme and I must say Spellbound is the winner among them. Cara Lynn Shultz managed to put in page and show us the connection Emma and Brendan have without being so blunt about it.

We see the connection right away between them but their relationship develops slowly... until they both realize that they have something more than a simple crush. Of course finding your true love couldn't have been that easy and they both come across a curse that they must find a way to fight or else Emma will end up dead... again. 

I liked Emma. She was fun, confident and stood up for everything she believed. We get a small glimpse of her old troubled life and that helped enhance her character more. It was just a merely glimpse but I thought it was just enough not to overflow the story. Brendan was nothing like I was expecting him to be. I would simply put it this way... he's a good boy. He cares about Emma and from the first moment he laid eyes on her, his instinct was to protect Emma form anything that threatened her. He looks calm from the outside but when the moment comes we see his slightly tempered side. He is fiercely protective about Emma. 

Although we see instant connection between them, Emma realizes that she loves Brendan towards the end of the book. The author doesn't stop at the my-true-love connection between them and gives them the time to know each other. The way they act around each other at first brought me giggles as the author managed to capture the feelings of teenage first love.

The writing was easy to follow and wasn't at all slow. There was always something happening which made the pace more quick. From the title you expect this to be a paranormal book but aside from the reincarnation thing there isn't much to it. The characters and the plot of this book made up for it and I didn't mind at all. 

Overall I loved it! I would definitely recommend reading this if you love YA romance with a touch of paranormal. Cara manages to compine swoon worthy romance with a hind of magic enough to spellbound you to it. 

PS: The cover makes total sense after you've read the book.

I have been hearing about Vampire Academy for a long time but I never picked it up for some reason. The covers of these books aren't so inviting but that wasn't really the reason but I'm glad to pick it up finally after having it for a year sitting on my bookshelf. I have to thank Melissa for that at Paranormally Romanced for making me read it. Thanks Melissa!

It's been a while since I read a book with such a kick-ass character. Rose was confident and blunt forward for anything she had in mind. She was a loyal friend and would do anything to protect Lisa. It was a relief for once to find out that the protagonists' best friend is actually a friend to them.

The story was a little hard to follow with the different kind of vampires, the good (Moroi Vampires) and the bad ones (Strigoi Vampires) and of course the guardians that protect Moroi vampires. Rose is training to become a guardian and hopes to be Lisa's guardian. The story is fast paced and I turned each page eagerly to learn what happens next. I liked Rose and Lisa. They sort of completed each other and that helped them a lot along the way.

The romance in this book wasn't what I was expecting. Everybody seems to be talking about Dimitri and I must admit it was one of the reasons I picked up this book, to find out about him. There aren't a lot of scenes with him and the scenes where we see him in are mostly the ones that he trains Rose. So you basically get to see them both and how they interact with each other. I didn't see the connection between them or liked Dimitri. I didn't dislike him either he was just.... there. I would say that I'm 'neutral' about him but I have 5 more books so you never know. Sorry Melissa if you're reading this you are probably planning my death. :) I tried! Saying that though I must also say that I haven't given up. I'll read the next books, which I plan soon, and see if I get to know more about Dimitri because you barely do in this book.

There is also another love story in this book and it's between Lisa and Christian which I loved! I just wished I could see more of Christian and Lisa. I wouldn't think it could be possible but through the connection Rose and Lissa have, Rose can enter Lisa's mind and see and feel whatever Lisa is doing and feeling. So through those few moments we get to see and know more about Lisa.

Overall I loved the book. At first when I picked up this book I though I was holding a good romance involving vampires. Now when I hold the book, I'm thinking of holding a good kick-ass book. If you haven't read it and you have doubts about it don't worry just pick it up!

Review

Hush Hush is the first book about angels I've read. I picked it up after hearing people raving about how good it is and with a cover like that, why wouldn't it be? When I read it the first time I wasn't impressed. Nora wasn't a strong character and her friend Vee is just plain annoying. Reading it though a second time changed my mind. Maybe I didn't like it the first time because I had read an incredible book before that, and no matter what I read next it wouldn't comprare. That's why I don't let myself read for a while after those kind of books so I can take them out of my system. But I couldn't wait for Hush Hush thinking it was that good. It's wasn't that good but it wasn't bad either.

The story is really good and the main thing that I didn't like was the characters. I have said it before, that I enjoy books mostly because of the plot not because the characters so much. When I have a great story with stunning characters, that's when the book is amazing for me. And the plot in this book was good and I do believe it gets better in the next two books (I haven't read them). But the characters weren't good. If the characters were written differently I may have enjoyed Hush Hush more.

Patch was a little abusive and I just couldn't believe how he talked to Nora and manipulated her without Nora even realizing it. Nora's best friend was just plain annoying and not a true friend to Nora. Vee should believe Nora and support her. It felt like she wasn't a friend to Nora at all. I couldn't believe how Nora could be friends with her. Patch was dark, silent and mysterious. Way too mysterious I would say. Now that I have read the book twice I still don't know Patch. Hopefully in the next book Crescendo I'll get to know him better.

Overall, I enjoyed it but wished there was more to it and I'm definitely going to read Crescendo. Should you read it? Why not. But if you have something else right now, go for that.

Book Review: Camille

Review

Camille was something different. Hunting down werewolves in the Victorian era was something I hadn't read about before and this story delivered it wonderfully.  

Camille isn't doing what the girls at her age do. Instead of dancing with young men and socializing at balls, she spends her nights hunting down and killing werewolves. She never thought that she would fall in love with one of them.

Nathaniel Strider. I'm still not sure what I feel towards him. Sometimes he would do or say something and I would like him. Sometimes they way his life was described it would make me feel pity and sorry for him. He is a poor guy form the other side of town and he couldn't be more different than Camille. Camille has grown up always knowing that there is going to be a roof above her head and food on the table every night, while Strider searched every night for a place to sleep and his meals were days apart since the last. 

The story didn't contain many 'hunting werewolves' scenes except from the first one. But it did contain a lot of science which I loved. The moments between Camille and Strider were sweet and easy. They had a good chemistry from the first time they met. As the days passed and Strider's first moon was coming closer I fell for him harder as Camille did and anxiously turned the pages to find out what will happen. Will they find a cure or will Camille have to kill him. 

The story is a mixture of paranormal romance and science. I would recommend it to anyone who loves paranormal books and enjoys science.

Review

First of all I must say, when I got this book I had no idea what to expect. The cover doesn't do the story justice. Don't be afraid to pick it up because of the cover. You're going to love it if you want a lot of swoon worthy romance and enough action to make you want to pull you hair.  Believe me when I say that. I almost did. *scratches head*

Lily was really enjoyable as a character and loved her way of thinking. She was witty and confident even though she was treated as the freak of her school. She wasn't afraid of what she was and embraced it no matter what anyone else said. I loved J her best friend and her little fashion statements. I wish I had a friend like that! It would be so much fun. It was a relief actually to have such a nice friend for once. Most YA books have their main characters befriended with some really horrible people and I have no idea why. So don't be afraid you're going to love her!


And now to the love interests! Oh Ryder....... what can I say about him? Whatever I say isn't enough. Ryder totally makes my top 10 fictional crushes/love interests. You can't not love him! He has the look of a bad boy, I mean he has a motorcycle and wears leather jacket! That screams bad boy! But behind that look he is so sweet and caring that you can't not just fall for him. Lucian on the other hand is just yummy! I know I shouldn't lust for two boys at the same time but damn was it hard to choose! Now that I think of it I still can't choose. 


In this book you don't have your typical love triangle where the girl can't choose between two boys. Instead you have Ryder and Lucian falling for the same girl. Isn't that every girl's dream come true?


**Side Note: Have you read a book with a love triangle between two girls and a boy, where the boy can't make up his mind? Now THAT would be interesting!** 

Overall I loved this book and it's now one of my favourite books. I would recommend it to anyone who loves a swoon worthy romance. This book left me breathless and wanting for more.

My Review

In the first book we are left with Lucas leaving Evernight, a school occupied mostly by vampires, because he was a vampire hunter. Bianca is a vampire-sort of.

I put off reading this because I was so mad after reading the first book. I just couldn't believe how Bianca, since the series comes from her point of view, could actually lie about what she is. 

During the first half of Evernight you have no idea what is happening and then suddenly we discover Bianca is a vampire, drinking blood from cups all this time. 

Nevertheless, I got over it and got my hands on Stargazer because of Lucas. I just had to know more about him! And I did enjoy it!

The first pages seemed to pass really quickly. Bianca in this book wasn't shy at all. In the first book Evernight we begin to know her as a shy girl but a year after, she is more confident and sure about her self and her choices. Things between her and Lucas are hard since she is still in Evernight and he's somewhere else hunting vampires. Even though it seems impossible they still manage to see each other and each time their love grows stronger. 

Evernight though is still creepy and holds more secrets, that I thought was possible. I mean, I never saw this kind of twist coming up. The author managed to surprise me once more (in a good way this time) with a  twist in Bianca's life and I was a little bit socked how she managed to join vampires and ghosts into the story. 

Lucas and Bianca's moments left me breathless and can't wait to grab Hourglass to see what happens to them next. They have so many obstacles to overcome that I wonder when they'll get a chance just to be.

I liked Balthazar's character growth. We got a glimpse of his life and how he was turned into a vampire. I liked him and it was hard not to route for him, since he has a major crush on Bianca. I loved Lucas, especially when he was jealous. He was irresistible. Lucas did also grow in this book. He learned that not everything around him is white and black, and learned, first to think then to act. Bianca played a huge role there.

Overall, I liked it. Claudia Gray managed to create an eerie atmosphere focusing on the romance and mysteries of Evernight. I would recommend reading this even if you slightly liked Evernight. This book is much better than Evernight and can hope the rest of the books are as good as this if not better.
